Sony Pictures was up first to kick off CinemaCon 2026 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. They started their movie presentations with a PG-rated family movie. Nick Bargatze was on hand to introduce The Breadwinner with a comical spin. Mandy Moore joined him onstage to promote the movie with a clip. The movie clip featured a bumbling father trying to survive his kids and their schedules without the help of his wife (Moore). This family comedy will be in theaters on May 29.
Sony continued their presentation with the much-anticipated Spiderman Brand New Day. It already has the single most-watched trailer in history. The movie starts where the last one left off. The same cast, with some new additions, have continued their lives without the knowledge of who Spiderman really is. Peter Parker must deal with the ramifications of his decision in the last movie. According to Holland, “It’s possibly the most emotional and grown up Spiderman film yet.” Spiderman Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31.

What happens when dreams meet reality? Possibly something terrifying. Insidious Out of the Further explores what that may look like. A new family is featured in the movie and has to deal with certain abilities. These abilities allow her to go into a world that might not be so welcoming. ‘

Sony will also add more anime-inspired films to their resume. The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will be one of the Anime films to hit theaters from Sony Pictures.
Next up was director Zach Cregger, who shared his thoughts on what he thinks is the “gold standard of horror,” Resident Evil. He told the audience that in this movie, “One protagonist will go on a journey from point A to B. ” We will have to keep our worries in check for this protagonist until September 18.
Klara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega, is an adaptation of the 2021 science fiction novel of the same name. Ortega plays Klara, an artificial friend, who becomes part of a family and the world around her. She tries to navigate the struggles that her new family must endure and how she can help them in her own way. This film will be out on October 23.
Next up was The Nightingale. The film is based on the bestseller by Kristin Hannah. This is a story of two sisters who endured German occupation during WWII. Dakota and Elle Fanning star together for the first time playing two characters who do what they can to fight for what’s right. It is slated to be out on February 12, 2027.
Sony also mentioned that it has just wrapped filming of The Legend of Zelda, and it will be released on May 7, 2027. More gaming adaptations will continue with the animated film, Bloodborne. The film will be rated R, much like the video game itself, and tell much the same story. Helldivers, a PlayStation adaptation starring Jason Momoa, will splash into theaters soon after on Nov 10. 2027.
The Social Reckoning, from writer-director Aaron Sorkin, will be a sequel to The Social Network. The movie will star Mikey Madison, Jeremy Strong, and Jeremy Allen White. The story centers on the true events of a Facebook whistleblower who brought to light some of the problems that plagued Zuckerberg and Facebook. Aaron Sorkin touches on current issues that have arisen since social media has become a part of our lives. Out October 9, 2026
Sony Pictures Animation will give us Buds in Dec. 2027. An indoor potted plant has broken the rules and talked to a human. This leads to an adventure that shows how connected the world really is.


Sony Pictures Animation continued its presentation with Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse. This film will end the trilogy. According to Sony, the “film will go to places it hasn’t been before.” The outstanding animation of the short preview looks to continue Miles Morales’s story to get back to his family. Miles’ final chapter debuts June 18, 2027.

Jumanji Open World continues its gameplay in this third installment. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart were all on hand to promote their movie and give us a sneak peak of the upcoming film. All of them were, “Excited to be back for another one.” The trio had the audience in stitches with their comedic chemistry. Their chemistry was evident in the previous movies and continues on screen in the next. In the movie, the game has come to life, real, present-day life, with the friends trying to figure out what to do with their characters, who seem to be in demo mode. Who knows what can happen when you roll the dice in this game? Johnson later pointed out that we should look for the shout-out to Robin Williams with an included easter egg (1/2 of the actual dice used in the original film). A nice tribute to say the least. Get ready to level up this Christmas Day 2026.
Feb 18, 2028, will see the release of Takashi Yamazaki’s Grandgear. The film will be the Oscar-winning director’s first film in English. This looks to be a new take on larger-than-life fighters in settings that seem similar to Godzilla. Hopefully, more will be coming soon about this mysterious project.
