Paramount Pulls Out All the Stops at CinemaCon: Stunts, Stars & Surprises.

Paramount Pictures

Paramount Pictures’ presentation on the last day of CinemaCon definitely kicked into high gear. Paramount started with an awe-inspiring motorcycle stunt show a la Mission Impossible.

From Tom Cruise honoring his longtime collaborator Christopher McQuarrie to exclusive first looks at new franchise entries and exciting original projects, Paramount made it clear: they’re going full throttle into 2025.

Tom Cruise was on hand to present an award to screenwriter and director Christopher McQuarrie. Cruise took a moment during the presentation to honor fellow actor Val Kilmer. “We were grateful and honored to have him join Top Gun and Maverick.” After the touching tribute, Cruise went on to tell the many accomplishments of Christopher McQuarrie, including joking about how he is sometimes confused with the Jerry Maguire actor Jonathan Lipnicki.

Mission: Impossible -The Final Reckoning will hit theaters on May 23, 2025. The audience’s reaction to the action-packed movie created quite a buzz. The movie will take us on a wild ride with Cruise’s character and dive into how he’ll deal with people turning against him. As usual, the movie will be filled with amazing stunts and “is going to blow the doors off your theater this Memorial Day.”

Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, and Colman Domingo joined the CinemaCon audience to introduce  The Running Man, from writer-director Edgar Wright. The movie is based on a book by Stephen King where future media has gone out of control and players participate in “the world’s deadliest game show.” Powell’s character will be the participant in this action-packed adventure, with him stating, “I’ve never worked harder on a movie in my life.” You will be running to theaters in November to see this one.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

Another animated family film was introduced by none other than the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants himself,  Tom Kenny, and a new addition as The Flying Dutchman, Mark Hamill. In The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, SpongeBob is dealing with being a ‘big guy’ and goes on an adventure to prove just that. The pirate ghost, The Flying Dutchman (Hamill), has other ideas. “If I did my job correctly, every kid in America will hate me,” said Hamill. The footage shown kept with the show’s humor that kids of all ages love.  Take a dive to Bikini Bottom on December 19, 2025.

The Naked Gun (2025)

The Naked Gun will be getting a reboot on August 1, 2025. Liam Neeson, who sadly was not there in person, will star as the bumbling detective. From producer Seth McFarland, the trailer shown was greeted with laughter from all levels of the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. This one pays homage to the originals with its many gags and ridiculous humor. It might just be the kind of zany humor in a movie we need.

Roofman

Channing Tatum greeted audience members to introduce his new crime drama, Roofman, that will be in theaters on October 3, 2025. The story is based on the true story of the thief known as Roofman who robbed several McDonald’s through the roof access. He later evaded capture by hiding in a Toys “R” Us store. This looks to combine some comedic elements with the dramatic story.
