Alison Brie just reminded everyone that a power move starts with a power outfit. The actor stepped out in New York City to swing by the Today show, and she turned the sidewalk outside Rockefeller Plaza into her own personal runway.
Brie wore a fitted black mini dress that was equal parts old-Hollywood glamour and modern edge. The plunging, bust highlighting, sweetheart neckline gave the look its drama, while long sleeves finished with playful feathered cuffs kept it from feeling too serious. A row of ornate statement buttons (think antique-style medallions and a tiny lion door-knocker) ran down the front, and a ruffled feather trim danced along the hem. She paired the dress with sheer black tights and glossy patent Christian Louboutin pointed-toe stilettos, letting her long toned, runway-ready legs do plenty of the talking. With her glossy brunette waves and softly curtained bangs framing her face, she looked every bit the leading lady, and honestly, in seriously enviable shape.

The fashion moment had a purpose. Alison Brie was making the morning-show rounds to talk about her role as Evil-Lyn, the powerful and delightfully sinister sorceress in the highly anticipated Masters of the Universe movie. As a longtime fan of the He-Man world, she admitted the gig came with some pressure. “It’s scary to step into such a big fandom sometimes,” she shared, before promising fans plenty of villainous eye-rolling and a deliciously contentious dynamic with the hero.

Turns out Brie was more prepared for the part than most. She credited her time on Netflix’s GLOW with teaching her the strength training, stunt work, and hand-to-hand combat vocabulary that came in handy for all the sword fighting. “GLOW connected me to my body and I love that strength. It is empowering,” she said, adding that she can pull off the moves in a cape and heels, backwards, no less.
She also dished a hilarious story from the Los Angeles premiere afterparty, where her mom enthusiastically complimented two performers dressed as He-Man and Skeletor, fully convinced they were the actual film’s stars. As Alison Brie put it, the mix-up “came from a sweet place.” Between the look, the laughs, and the legwork, she made the whole morning look effortless.
