Marvel Studios is staring down an unexpected curveball as the future of She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe appears increasingly uncertain. According to multiple reports, Tatiana Maslany has no interest in continuing her relationship with Marvel Studios, throwing planned appearances for Jennifer Walters into question ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars.
Sources suggest that Marvel had originally envisioned She-Hulk playing a notable role in the multiversal chaos of Secret Wars. That plan now appears to be on shaky ground. Insiders claim Maslany has quietly exited the MCU following She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, with budget tightening and shifting studio priorities cited as contributing factors. While some corners of the internet have framed this as a dramatic fallout, others insist the split was more pragmatic than personal.

Still, the ambiguity has sparked plenty of speculation. One report bluntly stated, “It seems Tatiana Maslany no longer works for Marvel,” before admitting there is little clarity on what that actually means for She-Hulk as a character. Marvel has recast roles before, from Bruce Banner to James Rhodes, but She-Hulk remains a particularly divisive figure within the fandom. That could make retiring the character altogether just as likely as finding a new face to go green.
The timing is also telling. Insider Alex Perez has noted that Maslany was not involved in principal photography for Avengers: Doomsday. While reshoots or surprise appearances are always possible in Marvel land, the absence adds weight to the idea that She-Hulk may be sitting out the next phase entirely. That aligns with Maslany’s previous public criticisms of Disney, including comments she made during the period when Jimmy Kimmel was temporarily off the air, moments that reportedly did not sit well with the studio.
Who should be the next She-Hulk? Our choice: Alison Brie

If Marvel does decide to recast Jennifer Walters, there is one name that keeps popping up for very good reasons. Alison Brie. She is funny, charismatic, and effortlessly charming. Early in the casting process for She-Hulk, rumors circulated that Marvel was looking for an “Alison Brie type.” Well, there she is.
Marvel can now get their true first choice, Alison Brie.
Brie has the comedic timing to handle She-Hulk’s self-aware humor, the screen presence to sell courtroom (and bedroom) banter, and the movie star appeal to stand tall next to heavy hitters like Matt Murdock. She also fits comfortably into the Marvel sandbox, a performer audiences trust to play the game without distracting controversy. And yes, it does not hurt that she would look phenomenal in green.
Whether Marvel chooses to recast or quietly shelve She-Hulk may depend on how Secret Wars ultimately takes shape. For now, Jennifer Walters remains in limbo, caught between multiverses, contracts, and creative crossroads.
