Adria Arjona is officially suiting up for the DC Universe, and if a new training photo is any indication, she is not phoning in the prep work.
The Andor breakout, who landed her role in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow in April 2026 after a competitive round of screen tests in Atlanta, turned up online this week flexing both biceps next to a loaded weight rack, clad in a black sports bra and matching leggings, abs fully on display. The internet did what the internet does. DC fans flooded the comments calling the look incredible and exactly right for a cosmic warrior, while plenty of others just stood back and admired the sheer effort on display.

And effort is the operative word, because the role this physique is built for remains delightfully murky. Variety and Deadline both reported that Arjona will play Maxima, the alien queen from the planet Almerac who, in the comics, deems Superman the only being worthy of being her mate. The Hollywood Reporter, however, coyly described her casting as a “mystery role,” noting that the Maxima reports were not confirmed. It is the kind of swirl Gunn himself helped stir up. When an early Deadline report named a different set of contenders for the part, the director publicly slapped it down as “shoddy & incorrect” journalism. Classic Gunn.
Then there is the lingering fan dream. Arjona has long been a popular pick to play Wonder Woman in the new DCU, and some loyalists still believe Maxima might be a clever cover story. Whatever the truth, those arms suggest she is ready for either.

Man of Tomorrow hits theaters July 9, 2027, picking up two years after 2025’s blockbuster Superman. David Corenswet returns as the Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult is back as Lex Luthor, the sparring rivals forced to team up against the super-intelligent threat of Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. The stacked ensemble also brings back Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, and Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner. For Arjona, it is her third comic book outing, after Morbius and the upcoming Prime Video series Criminal. Safe to say she is arriving in fighting shape.
