From NXT’s Zaria and Sol Ruca to newly-minted main roster members Axiom and Nathan Frazer, odd couples are the name of the game when it comes to tag teams in 2025, and WWE’s latest unlikely tag duo could prove to be their biggest yet. Though Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair’s so-called “alliance of convenience” may have seemed like a one-night-only affair, the Queen and the Goddess are proving they have staying power as a tag team – and giving Charlotte her most memorable storyline in years.
Though both women are undeniable superstars in every sense of the word, the first half of 2025 hasn’t been particularly dazzling for Alexa Bliss or Charlotte Flair. Both women had big nights at the Royal Rumble, but Alexa’s 2025 non-PPV appearances can be counted on one hand, while Charlotte has continually struggled to navigate reactions from volatile crowds and nail down a current character.

Enter, stage left, Evolution 2, and a deceptively simple proposal: one-time NXT friends Alexa Biss and Charlotte Flair team up to throw their hats in the ring for the WWE tag team championships. Despite obvious reservations about sharing the spotlight, Charlotte reluctantly agrees to indulge her old (not) friend, with the duo delivering a strong showing at Evolution.
Strong as it was, though, Alexa and Charlotte still came up short for the titles, and it seemed like that was the beginning and end of “Charlexa” as we knew it – until Charlotte popped up on the most recent Friday night Smackdown, informing Alexa of the tag match she’d gotten them for Summerslam. Between Charlotte’s Summerslam announcement and Alexa accompanying her ringside as a sullen cheerleader for her singles match, it’s safe to say the “allies of convenience” are here to stay.

While it may have seemed like a ramshackle tag team upon its initial inception, the alliance between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss is the perfect storyline for both women in 2025. Utilizing their behind-the-scenes chemistry and combined star power, the “allies of convenience” are an unlikely yet undeniable tag team that could prove to be a formidable force in the women’s tag division, if they don’t turn on each other first.
