Unveiling a sneak peek of Madelaine Petsch, renowned for her role in Riverdale, in the upcoming horror flick The Strangers: Chapter 1, audiences catch a thrilling glimpse of the actress’s venture into a spooky new project set to release next year.

This film serves as a rejuvenation of the 2008 horror classic, The Strangers, previously featuring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. It’s the initial installment of an envisioned trilogy, setting the stage for Petsch and Cruel Summer’s Froy Gutierrez to bring the story back to life. The plot weaves the tale of a couple traversing cross-country to embark on life anew in the Pacific Northwest. Yet, fate takes a sinister turn when their vehicle stutters to a halt, necessitating an overnight stay in a remote Airbnb. Here, a menacing group of individuals concealed behind masks makes them their prey.

Initial released snapshots provide a tantalizing view of Petsch and Gutierrez, embodying their roles within this desolate setting, with the ominous masked assailants lurking in the backdrop.

Director Renny Harlin shared insights with Entertainment Weekly regarding the meticulous casting process. The director expressed, “Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman delivered remarkable performances in the original masterpiece; stepping into such esteemed roles was a daunting task.” Harlin continued to extol Petsch’s extraordinary persona and acting prowess, identifying her as the quintessential choice for this role. Similarly, Gutierrez was recognized as a splendid addition to the cast after an exhaustive search.

According to Harlin, the casting aimed for a duo radiating a genuine, effortless connection. “While their on-screen romance might not mirror that in the original, it exudes authenticity and palpable chemistry, vital elements imbuing realism into this film and the subsequent trilogy,” Harlin explained.

Joining the ranks of Petsch and Gutierrez, the cast ensemble of The Strangers: Chapter 1 is graced by the talents of Rachel Shenton from Hollyoaks, Gabriel Basso known for Hillbilly Elegy, and Ema Horvath from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Mark your calendars, as The Strangers: Chapter 1 is slated for a 2024 release.
