The 34-year-old wrestler says she’s received death threats and hateful messages in the days since she spoke positively about Hogan during a CBS News 24/7 segment after his death on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71.

The Canadian WWE performer praised Hogan’s contributions to the wrestling industry and shared her personal experience with him as “positive,” while briefly referencing his “polarizing political views.” Green’s tribute, delivered on live television and echoed in a now-deleted post on X, immediately triggered a firestorm online, with critics accusing her of glossing over the darker chapters of Hogan’s legacy.
The backlash was swift and severe. “The name-calling, the death threats, the faceless accounts,” Green shared before stepping away from all platforms for her mental well-being. Wrestling News first reported on the fallout revisiting Hogan’s 2015 scandal involving racist comments captured on a leaked sex tape. The revelations at the time led to Hogan being erased from WWE programming and stripped from the company’s Hall of Fame section. Though later reinstated, his reputation within the industry never fully recovered.
Hogan, who had been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump and a highly polarizing figure in later years, issued a public apology at the time of the scandal, calling his words “unacceptable” and saying, “That’s not who I am.” For many fans, however, the damage was irreparable. The incident marked a pivotal moment in WWE’s reckoning with issues of race, image, and accountability.
In her final post before stepping offline, Green wrote, “If my response (or tweet) seemed dismissive of real concerns, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I tried to acknowledge a death respectfully, even when the legacy is complicated. I am learning one day at a time and will continue to learn.”
Green’s break from social media raises ongoing questions about how athletes and entertainers navigate tributes in the age of polarized public discourse. For now, the WWE Raw and SmackDown standout is choosing to step back from the noise—and perhaps reset the narrative on her own terms.
