Since their electric debut alongside Naomi at Wrestlemania, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill have taken the WWE by storm, re-igniting the women’s tag division with not one but two dominant title reigns in just six months. Whether clashing with the Kabuki Warriors at fending off a trio of challengers at Crown Jewel, Belair and Cargill’s combined athleticism, charisma, and in-ring prowess have earned them the rightful status of top togs in the women’s division — even when temporarily dropping the titles, Cargill and Belair were never pinned.

But while Bianca and Jade’s dominant reigns as tag champions have been both a treat for fans and a boon for the women’s division at large, there’s still one big question mark looming over the champs: how long can two massive singles stars co-exist as a tag team? Certainly, we’re still in the early days of Cargill’s WWE tenure (she’s barely been with the company a year) and in the grand scheme of things, she and Bianca haven’t been a tag team for all that long.

In the same breath, though, tag team breakups are all but inevitable, and fans have been chomping at the bit for a Bianca vs Jade feud since they first faced off in the Royal Rumble: is the EST still WWE’s resident powerhouse, or could a newcomer like Cargill be the one to knock Bianca off the top? Making Bianca and Jade as a stroke of genius, and one that’ yielded some incredibly memorable matches (and matching gear), but nothing lasts forever, and it’s time to begin thinking about the when, how, and why of what a Belair/Cargill tag team breakup might look like.
Certainly, Bianca Belair vs Jade Cargill is nothing short of a Wrestlemania-worthy match, but getting there requires a lengthy, believable feud between a pair of babyfaces who are currently joined at the hip. Especially considering we’ve yet to see Jade in the WWE as a singles competitor, determining which half of the tag team turns on the other won’t just be key to a successful feud — it’ll set the tone for the rest of Jade’s WWE career.

Conventional wisdom says Jade would be the heel — after all, she’s cut her fair share of heel promos in AEW, and Bianca Belair has been a quintessentially marketable, clean-cut babyface since being called up to the main roster. But as any fan of NXT circa 2017 will tell you, Bianca Belair can be a fierce heel when she wants to. Regardless of who’s face and who’s a heel, though, there’s no doubt that Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill’s singles feud will continue to highlight the women of the roster, just as their dual championship reigns have done for the tag division.
Though 2024 has been something of a rocky year for women’s booking in WWE, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill have been a luminous force, working overtime to elevate not just their belts and each other, but the division around them.
