Sydney Sweeney’s Hollywood reign continues, and this time, she’s diving into the world of psychological thrillers. The Euphoria and Anyone But You star is set to headline and produce I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, an adaptation of Joe Cote’s chilling Reddit short story, for Warner Bros. And in case that wasn’t intriguing enough, the screenplay is being penned by none other than Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Dune, A Star is Born, Killers of the Flower Moon).

The premise is the stuff of internet horror legend: A woman appears on a family’s doorstep, claiming to be their daughter who vanished a decade ago. But what starts as a calculated con to rob the grieving parents soon unravels into something far more sinister as dark secrets surrounding the girl’s disappearance come to light. The project marks yet another high-profile addition to Sydney Sweeney’s already jam-packed slate, proving that she is, without a doubt, one of the most in-demand stars in Hollywood today.
Sweeney’s Incredible Year Ahead
With I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, Sweeney continues to expand her producing empire under her Fifty-Fifty Films banner. But this isn’t the only thriller on her docket. She’s also an executive producer and lead in The Housemaid, a psychological thriller based on Freida McFadden’s novel. Set for a Christmas Day release, the Paul Feig-directed film co-stars Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar and follows a housemaid (Sweeney) who discovers her wealthy employers’ secrets are far more dangerous than her own.

Then there’s Scandalous!, where Sweeney transforms into silver screen legend Kim Novak. The Miramax drama, helmed by Colman Domingo in his directorial debut, chronicles Novak’s forbidden love affair with entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. in the 1950s—an era when their relationship was deemed taboo.
Sweeney is also stepping into the ring for a David Michôd-directed biopic about female boxing legend Christy Martin, further showcasing her versatility in tackling complex, real-life characters.
What’s Next and The Marvel Rumors
As if her plate weren’t already full, Sweeney has been at the center of the Spider-Man universe casting rumor buzz. Whispers in the industry suggest she could be donning the sleek black suit of Marvel’s Black Cat in Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man film, potentially sharing the screen with Euphoria castmate Zendaya and Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink.

Before any web-slinging rumors are confirmed, though, she’ll next be seen in Apple’s upcoming thriller Echo Valley, starring alongside Julianne Moore, Kyle MacLachlan, and Domhnall Gleeson.
From prestige biopics to nerve-shredding thrillers—and possibly the Marvel Cinematic Universe—Sydney Sweeney is proving she’s not just Hollywood’s busiest actress, but one of its most electrifying talents.
