What’s Next After Jurassic World Rebirth?
With Scarlett on board in her favorite franchise, I see incredible potential to explore more, both with the characters and the dinosaurs. What I loved most was how the story allowed us to connect with her character truly. She’s a total badass who elevated the entire film, and you could tell the cast had fun making it. I’d love to see her involved as a producer in the next installment — and I’d be thrilled if she ever directed a Jurassic film. That said, I also hope Gareth Edwards returns. He brings something special to all of his projects, especially with this one, shot entirely on film, which added such texture and realism.

What made this film even more special was the use of real locations. I hope they continue that approach. Bringing back David Koepp, who wrote the original Jurassic Park, really added to the magic. His return brought back the simplicity and the sense of dread that the last two films were missing. Thanks to that, the franchise managed to avoid falling into the trap of endlessly revisiting the same islands with recycled plots. Instead, it delivered a tighter, more grounded story.
There are so many species and islands left to explore. As of now, there are six islands: Isla Nublar, Isla Sorna, Isla Muerta, Isla Matanceros, Isla Pena, and Isla Tacano. And now, we’ve been introduced to Île Saint-Hubert — a previously unknown island that served as the original facility for Jurassic Park. Only two of these islands have been seen on screen, so this opens up an entire world of new possibilities.
With the introduction of Drex, we’ve only seen the beginning. So far, we’ve seen him stop a helicopter mid-air and halt a moving vehicle with ease. But remember — filmmakers never reveal all their tricks at once. Trust that they’re building toward something even bigger.
What really got me thinking was the state of the island: brand new vehicles, and in Jurassic Park colors/logo, functioning electricity, and a fully stocked gas station. What else is going on there? I think we’ll see the team return to the same island in search of more DNA, possibly venturing deeper into the island and discovering an underground facility filled with darker species and dangerous secrets.
I believe InGen will return — and we’ll learn what they’ve been up to while other companies have failed. We’ll likely see Drex again, along with the return of the Spinosaurus (similar to the one in Jurassic Park III) and possibly an even more terrifying new breed of Raptors, the return of Indomious Rex, and way more jump scares. Since this is a brand-new island, it’s very possible no other company even knew about it. The work that’s been going on there might be far more frightening than anything we’ve seen before. I do not buy, this was an abandoned facility from 17 years prior.

I don’t think there’s a need to bring back legacy characters — it’s important to build up the new cast and fresh stories. I’d especially love to see more of Zora Bennett’s backstory, what drives her, and how she fits into this evolving world. While I get why we didn’t get a romance with her character, I could see them building it up in the next installment. The chemistry with Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and Zora was off the charts, and I would love to see them build something with it. Regardless, Scarlett Johansson always has exceptional chemistry with her co-stars and it just adds to the beauty of the stories.
I expect the franchise to continue leaning into the horror and simplicity that made this entry so strong — with Scarlett Johansson leading the way. She has that rare quality that consistently draws in audiences, and I want to see her headline the next two films. That would finally give her a franchise/trilogy of her own, which she fully deserves.
It’s clear Universal Studios respects her and treats her well. With Jurassic World Rebirth bringing in $323 million globally, it ranks as the third highest-opening weekend in the franchise. It might even become the first billion-dollar film of 2025.
I’m confident the franchise has already greenlit two more films — and it’s absolutely earned.
Dinosaur films continue to roar through the box office, always delivering thrills, wonder, and the timeless magic of these prehistoric giants.
