Remember all those conspiracy theories about the moon landing being fake? Welp, looks like Fly Me To The Moon is all set to blast off using that as its premise (kind of). A brand-new trailer for the upcoming film by Apple TV+, has been released. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum head up the cast of this brand-new rom-com, with a great list of cast members across the board.
The movie is set during the 1960s space race between the US and the Soviet Union. it centers around Kelly Jones (Johansson) a marketing executive and NASA launch director Cole Davis (Tatum) but also features the incredible talents of Woody Harrelson, Ray Romano, and Jim Rash.
Fly Me To The Moon Trailer Reaction
The trailer starts off by setting the tone, and we’re treated to Tatum’s character Cole Davis entering a bar and locking eyes with the sultry Scarlett Johansson, playing Kelly Jones in the film. It’s quick, snappy humor and the period piece vibes are strong in this one. The trailer then features some quick cuts explaining the plot; we’re treated to Harrelson’s character telling Cole the funding for the Apollo 11 mission is basically in the ground and there’s a dire need to sell it to the public. Enter Kelly Jones, ‘the very best’ marketing executive who’s chosen to sell it to the public.
With a charismatic and confident demeanor, Jones is quick to say “when I’m done, those men are gonna be bigger than the Beatles”, citing the astronauts set to visit the moon. Indeed, Jones is also tasked to prepare some fake moon landing footage “just in case” the mission is a failure.

And of course, amidst tons of fun shenanigans, as we’re taken behind the scenes of the most elaborate marketing plan ever, sparks start to fly between Kelly and Cole. “I know a lot more about the moon than I know about you” says Cole in a scene that looks like he and Kelly are on a date. We’re treated to some very cool cinematography, quick adrenaline-pumping shots edited together flawlessly till we hit the title.
Indeed, Fly Me To The Moon looks like a film that oozes style, comedy, romance and charm all in one. It also helps that it has a stacked cast of great actors, headlined by the one and only Scarlett Johansson. She looks great opposite Channing Tatum, who showed us all he had the chops for comedy in both 21 Jump Street and its much less popular, but still underrated sequel, 22 Jump Street.
Fly Me To The Moon blasts off in theaters on July 12th, 2024.
