If you slept on Blue Ridge: The Series the first time around, consider this your wake-up call. The rugged Appalachian crime drama returns to INSP on Sunday, July 19 at 10 p.m. EST for a second season, and everything about this go-round feels bigger, badder, and built for a wider audience.

Here’s the thing that might surprise you: this is no under-the-radar curiosity. After its 2024 debut, the first season went on to become one of the top five most popular shows in the world on Prime Video. Not bad for a show set in a sleepy mountain town where the biggest excitement is supposed to be who won the pie contest.

Sheriff Justin Wise Rides Again, and This Time the Mountain Is Meaner

Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do!, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) returns as Sheriff Justin Wise, the former Green Beret trying to keep the peace in a town that has no intention of staying peaceful. He’s joined again by Sarah Lancaster (Chuck, Everwood) as his ex-wife Elli, Taegen Burns as daughter Maddie, and genre favorites Tom Proctor and A Martinez (Longmire). Creator Gary Wheeler is back to showrun, write, and direct, keeping the whole thing anchored to one clear vision.

Fans and critics alike have pegged the series as comfort food for the Yellowstone crowd. There’s a bite to Blue Ridge that feels familiar to Yellowstone fans, with Schaech playing Justin with a sense of fun reminiscent of Alan Ritchson’s Reacher. If you like your Westerns modern, moody, and heavy on small-town grit, this is your lane.

Season 2 cranks up the danger with bounty hunters, moonshiners, and cold-blooded murderers descending on the hollers, and every case tests Justin’s grit, loyalty, and the limits of small-town peace. The guest list alone is worth the price of admission: A.J. Buckley (SEAL Team), Bruce Boxleitner, Keith Carradine (The Power of the Dog), Eric Close, Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy), Sean Patrick Flanery, Zachary Gordon, WWE Superstar Chelsea Green, the always-transformative Doug Jones (Hellboy), Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), and Kristoffer Polaha (Landman).

INSP COO Dale Ardizzone says the team is banking on the momentum, promising the franchise will build on its breakout run with “an even bigger audience in season two.” Newcomers can catch up on Season 1 via INSP, the Western Bound FAST channel, or YouTube before diving in. In Blue Ridge, justice is personal, and it’s earned one fight, one mystery, and one truth at a time.
