If you needed proof that one movie can flip a career overnight, meet Inde Navarrette. A year ago, the 25-year-old was walking dogs and streaming to pay rent between auditions. Now she’s the face of Obsession, the sub-$1 million horror hit that clawed its way past $400 million worldwide and became one of the most profitable films of 2026. And in a new interview with Nylon, she made it very clear she’s ready for her next act to be a big one.
Asked point-blank whether she’d do a Marvel movie, Navarrette didn’t flinch. “I would,” she said. Simple, direct, and exactly what comic book fans wanted to hear.
Inde Navarrette said “I Would” to Marvel, and Now the Whole Internet Is Fan Casting Her

Here’s where it gets juicy. Navarrette also revealed that among her dream directors (a list that includes Ryan Coogler, Greta Gerwig, and Michael Mann), she’s already met with Jake Schreier. If that name sounds familiar, it should: Schreier directed Marvel’s Thunderbolts and is now attached to steer the studio’s hotly anticipated X-Men reboot, currently eyeing a 2028 release. She didn’t confirm the meeting was for that project. She didn’t have to. The internet did the rest.
And oh, the internet has thoughts. With Marvel and Schreier both signaling a youth-focused mutant lineup, a bankable young actress who just proved she can carry a film feels like a natural fit. So who could she play? Three names keep rising to the top of our wish list.
Rogue, Emma Frost, or Magik? The Fan Casting Is Already Out of Control

First, Rogue: the Southern powerhouse whose touch is a curse, tailor-made for an actress who can play danger and vulnerability at once. Then there’s Emma Frost, the ice-cold telepath in white, a role that demands exactly the kind of magnetic screen presence Navarrette wielded so unnervingly in Obsession. And finally Magik, Illyana Rasputin, the sword-swinging sorceress with one foot in Limbo and a fanbase desperate to see her done right.
Nothing’s confirmed, and Navarrette has options everywhere (she’s also reportedly met with Mann about Heat 2 and has the thriller Invertigo on deck). But make no mistake: whatever she chooses next, Hollywood is watching. As she put it, she wants to prove Obsession “wasn’t just lightning in a bottle.” Consider the mutant world officially on notice.
