Sydney Sweeney has never shied away from embracing her daring scenes on screen. But what does she think about her fellow actors’ bold choices? In a candid conversation for Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue, Sweeney opened up about Jude Law’s upcoming role in Ron Howard’s anticipated film, Eden, and why she’s fully on board with his decision to bare it all.

“This movie hasn’t been seen by a proper audience yet, so I’m not quite sure what people will say about it. I mean, I know I was cheering,” Sweeney remarked. “I am always very supportive of nudity, of sexual scenes, if the story of the character warrants it. For Jude’s character, it was such a powerful move for him to do, so I wanted to cheer for that. Whether it’s men or women, if it’s for the character, it’s for the character, and it tells a story.”
Eden, also featuring Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Daniel Brühl, follows the lives of eight individuals striving to coexist on a remote island, with no release date confirmed just yet. While Sweeney has her own share of memorable moments on Euphoria, she’s more than willing to celebrate a co-star’s bold choices if they deepen the character’s journey.
But Sweeney’s lighthearted side wasn’t far from the surface in the interview, as she chatted about her unforgettable monologue on SNL. “I loved it. I actually had to push for a lot of it,” she shared. “Some people were a little nervous about it, but in real life, I’d like to say I’m a funny person. And sometimes I wish that I could address more [things with] my ‘Syd’ self, but I find that with social media there’s such a lapse in how things are communicated. So being able to do it onstage in very Syd fashion, I loved it. I felt like I was taking the power back.”

With Euphoria Season 3 on the horizon, Sweeney also shed light on how the delays affected her career trajectory. “There were definitely a few projects that I had to pass on because I was supposed to be going back to Euphoria. But because I am producing now, I was able to say, ‘You know what? I don’t think this is happening. I’m going to put some of my own projects on the slate.’”
Fans can breathe easy knowing Euphoria is back on track, with production slated for January and an eight-episode lineup. As for Sweeney, she’s diving into a new role as boxing champ Christy Martin — and yes, she’s already gotten in fighting shape. Between cheering on her co-stars and making power moves in her career, Sydney Sweeney is showing Hollywood she’s here for it all.
