James Gunn is taking us on a high-flying adventure with a fresh peek at the iconic Superman emblem that’s going to grace the big screen in the eagerly awaited Superman flick, formerly buzzed about as Superman: Legacy. Gunn, the mastermind behind the lens, gave us this tantalizing teaser via his Threads and Instagram, setting the stage for what’s shaping up to be a supercharged costume reveal when the film soars into theaters on July 11, 2025. And guess what? In a serendipitous nod to the Man of Steel himself, filming has officially taken flight on Superman’s very own birthday!

When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.

This latest cinematic venture will zoom in on Clark Kent, portrayed by David Corenswet, juggling the daily grind as a journalist with his world-saving duties as Superman. The star-studded lineup doesn’t end there, with Rachel Brosnahan stepping into the shoes of Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult embodying the cunning Lex Luthor. It’s been over a decade since Man of Steel had us glued to our seats, and now Gunn, alongside DC Studios Co-CEO Peter Safran, is set to inject new life into this Warner Bros. juggernaut. The cast is nothing short of stellar, with Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Anthony Carrigan joining the fray.
