Warning: Spoilers Ahead.
Stories

With Ahsoka and Huyang still traveling inside a Star Whale, they can only sit and wait. Ahsoka is lost in her thoughts, she and Huyang reminisce about the old Jedi stories and Huyang offers to tell her one but she’s not in the mood. Ahsoka admits she saw Sabine give herself up to Baylan willingly, “she could’ve
ended this”, she adds. Huyang knows this is controversial, but he believes Sabine may have had her reasons (Ezra). He believes the force can assist you, not show you everything. “Perhaps for Sabine, it was the only choice.”
Ahsoka has a change of heart and asks Huyang to tell her a story. The scene ends with Huyang saying a familiar quote “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.” The two continue to fly off, and it’s the last we see of them for the episode. There are other things to attend to.

On the Eye of Sion, Sabine is seen locked away in a cell, with Baylan peeking in. She lectures Baylan about their deal: she doesn’t destroy the map in exchange for finding Ezra. Baylan joins Shin and Morgan and assures Morgan that he believes Sabine will be of use to them.
Out of hyperspace, the ship enters unknown territory. As they land, Morgan, Baylan, Shin, and Sabine are confronted by the Great Mothers (Nightsisters). They guided Morgan “across the stars” to come and retrieve Thrawn. The Mothers smell Jedi, and quickly mistrust Sabine, she is taken and locked away once more. Baylan is conflicted about this, but there’s not much he can do.
Later, he takes in the atmosphere and is joined by Shin. “Children’s stories come to life… some ancient past long forgotten”. He tells her about his past, the fall of the Jedi temple, and how he couldn’t make sense of it at the time. But eventually realized it’s merely part of a cycle, an inevitable one. “The fall of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire”. Shin asks if it’s their time of power, but Baylan says that’s “fleeting, what I seek is the beginning, so I can bring this cycle to an end.” There are a few clear moments like this where both Baylan and Shin are unsure of themselves, perhaps foreshadowing what may come as the series concludes.
A Big Threat
While Sabine stays trapped in her new cell, bored, she whispers “Ahsoka” and scolds herself for doing nothing. She rises and tries to use the force to escape but something intervenes, that of a big Star Destroyer which now hovers over her. We see an army of former stormtroopers, now sporting new looks. They are led by Captain Enoch, who’s the right-hand man for none other than.

Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). He walks purposefully through his army, the fate of the galaxy presumably his. Mikkelsen’s performance is stellar, and Thrawn’s threatening presence that each episode has teased is immediately felt. Thrawn, Morgan, Baylan, and Shin go see Sabine, and surprisingly, Thrawn frees her. “You helped my cause, I’ll help yours.” This seems odd, but Sabine takes a Howler and rides off to find Ezra. Thrawn reveals his actual plan, he sends Baylan and Shin to follow Sabine and kill her and Ezra if found.
While on her journey, Sabine runs into some bandits, fights them off then scolds her Howler for leaving her. Soon she gets reacquainted with it, and they resume the adventure. Back at the base, Thrawn enlists the help of a few squads to watch over and help Baylan and Shin.
A Friend

Sabine meets a community of small turtles; they can’t understand each other save for the name Ezra. The group guides Sabine and her howler elsewhere. Baylan and Shin are trailing behind, they find the corpses of the bandits plus the “help” that was sent to watch over them. Sabine is led to a camp, where the turtles seek shelter. It’s nice, you get a sense of family in a lonely galaxy. “I knew I could count on you,” a voice tells Sabine; she turns around and is shocked by what she sees.
Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). It’s awkward at first but the two converse as if no time has passed. After a much-needed hug, Ezra thanks her for coming. Sabine isn’t truthful to him; he thinks she has a plan to get out here and can’t wait to go home. Sabine brushes off her worry and helps the camp pack. The Ezra reveal felt quick, and after the many sacrifices made in previous episodes with Sabine especially to get to this moment, they could’ve benefited from a bit more suspense and dramatization.
As the episode ends, the Mothers inform Thrawn they’ve detected another Jedi coming to their galaxy. “Could it be the recently deceased Ahsoka Tano?” he asks. Morgan protests that’s “impossible” but Thrawn says “Death and resurrection are common deceptions played out by Nightsisters and Jedi”. He asks for assistance from the Mothers, “The thread of destiny demands it.”
