Marvel’s White Vision embarks on a Spock-like journey in Terry Matalas’ star-studded ‘Vision Quest’ Disney+ series.

In true multiversal fashion, Star Trek: Picard meets the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least behind the camera. At Saturday’s STLV convention, former Picard showrunner Terry Matalas took the stage to unveil Marvel-approved morsels about his upcoming Disney+ series, Vision Quest. While the panel was light on trailers or footage, it was packed with tantalizing tidbits that have us ready to hit the “add to watchlist” button now.

From Picard to the MCU, Terry Matalas teases AI intrigue, returning villains, and familiar faces in Vision Quest.

The sci-fi series will reunite Matalas with two familiar faces from Picard: Todd Stashwick and Orla Brady. Fans will remember Stashwick’s delightfully snarky Captain Shaw and Brady’s enigmatic Laris/Tallinn. In Vision Quest, Brady steps into a very different kind of role, voicing F.R.I.D.A.Y., Tony Stark’s loyal AI assistant (previously brought to life in the films by Kerry Condon). Stashwick trades Starfleet for Marvel Comics lore as Paladin, a mercenary who’s apparently on the hunt for Paul Bettany’s White Vision, the newly sentient synthezoid who was last seen flying off into the unknown at the end of WandaVision.

But the casting surprises don’t end there. Matalas confirmed that Vision Quest will also feature Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek) as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-made AI introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, and Faran Tahir are also set to appear. And yes, Marvel’s mechanical menace himself, Ultron, is on the board. Last played by James Spader in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the character will reportedly return in a “unique” way that Matalas is keeping tightly under wraps.

The Vision Quest creative team is stacked with self-professed Star Trek fans, which Matalas said allowed them to speak in “Trek shorthand” during production. He even drew parallels between Vision’s arc in the series and Spock’s journey in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, hinting that White Vision will grapple with reconnecting to his past and his fractured memories while navigating the present.

While Marvel is still keeping the big reveals in its back pocket, the blend of MCU tech intrigue, AI drama, and a dash of Trek sensibility could make Vision Quest one of the most emotionally resonant and downright fascinating entries in the franchise. The series is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026, but after Matalas’ STLV tease, the wait is going to feel very long indeed.
