Another MCU show, another list of incredible Sensational concept art. The MCU is known for sharing the art of its various series and movies after they’ve been released, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is no exception.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law The Art of the series was all set to launch post show, but for some reason a litany of delays kept it from the hands of loyal fans and now that it’s finally out in the wild, we can truly see some of the coolest concepts they had for its lead character and supporting cast throughout the show. It’s no secret that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was released to mixed reception, with many audience members struggling to find that sense of connection to the show and its lead at times in comparison to other characters, but things were not all bad for the Jade Giantess’ first foray into the MCU.

The show was known for its 4th wall-breaking humor, comedic tone, and zany adventures hearkening back to the various comic books featuring wisecracking attorney Jennifer Walters. Another little element that’s crucial to the character was her various fashionista moments; Walters oozes style and appeal in the comics and wins any room she walks into due to her presence, larger than life personality and amazonian physique, but helping all that along is her sense of amazing fashion, as she’s had quite a few beautiful looks in the comic.
Now some of that did come through on the show, as we saw Tatiana Maslany’s Jen Walters don a bunch of great dresses (her maroon outfit on her series of dates, her awards show shimmering silver dress at the end, her polka dot slit dress in the wedding episode) but the artbook shows there were more plans to add different looks for the character that never quite made the cut.

As is always the case, shows and movies go through a ton of different concept art before the final looks are decided for each character, and here we have some various looks and outfits for Jennifer. So let’s break ‘em down.
Firstly, the appearance of her curly hair. God, YES. It’s iconic. It’s accurate. It’s simply SENSATIONAL. One of the most disappointing, albeit understandable, aspects of the show for She-Hulk fans was the lack of Jen’s iconic 80s/90s hairdo. Big, wavy, and luscious curls were huge at the time, and Shulkie owned that look like nobody’s business. Having some concept art with her hulked out for,m having a bit more of a curly hair aesthetic is pleasing to the eyes coz it’s embodying that era of the character.
It was also sad that Maslany’s hair as Jen in her human form was already curly, so it felt disappointing not to see that look for her Hulked out form. But, alas, VFX work isn’t easy, and they were overworked as it is.

The next thing to bring attention to is the sports wear. It’s also no surprise that Jen was drawn a lot like an athletic queen, especially during the 80s and 90s era when she was being redefined by John Byrne, and the 80s home workout aesthetic was at its height then. So, seeing Jen in a set of black sports wear (tank top and short shorts) is such a JEN thing to wear, and her body here is physique goals.
But the crème de la crème so to speak, REALLY getting into the heart of Shulkie fashion from the comics, is the concept art featuring a variety of great slit dresses accentuating the Emerald Empress’ beautiful physique, and why not? That is SO She-Hulk in the comics, and the Disney+ series should have had more of that in it. While that may not have happened, it is great to see that the concept artists were, as people say these days, ‘cooking’.
Speaking of which, the MCU would really be cookin’ up a storm if we got THIS Jen and THIS Carol in a future show or movie. Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) has been a friend to Jen and even showed up in a recent She-Hulk comic to recruit her for the Avengers.

They’re also both baddies. Shulkie’s abs and Carol’s beefy arms would go hard in the MCU for sure. Sex appeal, especially in the case of She-Hulk, is totally on brand for a character of her nature, so it’d be right at home for her. A little cheesecake never hurt anybody, Carol is no slouch in the fashion game herself.
This is but a sliver of the concept art shown in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but it does make me wonder if we’ll see any of these looks in the future, if and when the MCU decides to move ahead with She-Hulk. Some rumors are going around about Maslany potentially filming scenes in Avengers: Doomsday, and that would track with the leaked concept art of her She-Hulk and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, but as of right now, the potency of those rumors is questionable, given Maslany is booked and busy on other projects.
Perhaps we will see more of these concept arts realized when the time is right.
