Ant-Man and The Wasp star Evangeline Lilly has announced her retirement from acting. The 44-year-old actress took to Instagram today to share a clip of herself from 2006, reminiscing about her career goals from back in the day. Before becoming a beloved member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lilly was known for her role in LOST. (Yes, 2006 was quite a while ago!) In her heartfelt post, the actress expressed gratitude for her personal growth and hinted that she might return to acting. For now, though, the Hope Van Dyne actress is ready to embark on a new journey. Check out her full message below!

Ant-Man and The Wasp star Evangeline Lilly announces her retirement

“Thank you @lost_theothers for digging up this (nearly twenty-year-old) footage of me speaking out my dreams under (what looks like) a full moon. And thank you to @femalepoetssociety for digging up this (much older) footage of the incredible #mayaangelou perfectly articulating how I feel about life.”

“I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can sometimes feel scary, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.”

Fans of The Wasp are likely to be saddened by the news, but perhaps none more so than Lilly’s son. In a recent appearance on Good Morning America, the actress shared a heartwarming story about how her son has come to appreciate her role in the MCU. Initially, her now 11-year-old had some reservations about her superhero status, but he’s come around to the idea over time.

“My 11-year-old son is in middle school, Marvel is currency in middle school,” Lilly said with a smile. “He likes to flex on his friends, ‘I know what’s going on. My mom is the Wasp. No big deal’. But, they’ve come around because when I first became an Avenger, he was like, ‘Mom, why do you have to be the worst Avenger? Why couldn’t you be Iron Man or someone cool like that?’ But, now that I’ve graduated to becoming a senior Avenger, he’s like, ‘Mom. You’re cool now.'”

Evangeline Lilly’s decision to step away from acting marks the end of a significant chapter in her life, but it also heralds the beginning of an exciting new one. We wish her all the best on her journey ahead and hope to see her back on the big screen someday.
