California is going big on blockbusters. The state has officially set aside $342 million in tax credits for 52 film projects, including a record $43.9 million for Jumanji 3. The latest installment in the hit franchise is set to hit theaters on December 11, 2026, with an expanded release that includes IMAX and premium large formats.

The upcoming film will once again bring back franchise favorites Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black. Director Jake Kasdan, who previously helmed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, is also returning to lead the production. Screenwriters Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg are penning the new adventure, while Matt Tolmach, Johnson, Kasdan, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia are back as producers.

Jumanji 3 gears up for a massive return with record-breaking California tax credits and an all-star cast.

California’s record-breaking credit for Jumanji 3 is part of the state’s ongoing effort to keep major film productions from relocating elsewhere. The state is also committing $38.4 million in credits for the next film from the Daniels, the Oscar-winning duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, and $37.2 million for Michael Mann’s anticipated Heat 2.

The Jumanji franchise has been a consistent box office juggernaut. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle pulled in more than $960 million worldwide in 2017, while Jumanji: The Next Level scored over $800 million in 2019. With its all-star cast and proven track record, the third film is positioned to be another major holiday season hit.

The original Jumanji, released in 1995, starred Robin Williams and became a beloved family classic. The modern reboot, beginning in 2017, transformed the premise into a high-concept action-comedy centered on a group of teens trapped inside a video game. It revitalized the franchise and cemented its place as one of Sony’s biggest film series.

With massive tax incentives and a star-studded cast, Jumanji 3 is primed to level up its box office game. Production is expected to ramp up in the coming year as the countdown to December 2026 begins.
